Toxic and Harmful Crystals
Crystals
We all love our crystals. They are so beautiful, magical, and extremely powerful stones. I decided to write this as so many people love the crystal water I give them when they come for readings and or healings.
I have since had many people tell me that they have been placing crystals into their own water to charge it for their benefit. This is wonderful news, a fantastic way to bring crystals into our life, but some of these stones may be doing you more harm that what you know.
It is for this reason I thought to present you with a partial list – as I am not a professional in this area of al the possible information on stones that my become toxic if used incorrectly. I was once told to place a malachite crystal in my water. This information was given to me by a person who makes a living in the “New Age or Spiritual industry” During the reading I was told to complete this action as it would rid my body of toxins.
I found this information sat uneasy with me. My gut instinct, or as I like to refer, my one on one with my Guardian Angel was giving me a heads up that this was not correct. I did some research before following this advice and very glad that I did. Malachite when left in water leeches’ copper into the water.
Copper is a heavy metal that’s perfectly safe to consume at low levels. You have about 50 to 80 milligrams (mg) of copper in your body that’s mostly found in your muscles and liver, where excess copper is filtered out into waste products like our bowel movements. Too much copper in the body can damage the liver, kidney, heart, and brain. If left untreated, copper toxicity can have severe health effects and even result in death.
When I had the reading I was undergoing chemo treatment for my breast cancer – already placing poisons into my system, and I was drinking up to 4 litres of water a day to flush the chemo out of my body. As most of us do I try to drink more than 2 litres of water each day, but if I had followed this advice (against my gut instinct) I would have been poisoning my system even more! When I spoke to my local GP and naturopath about the advice I was given during the reading about making up crystal healing water they were appalled and congratulated that I took the time to research and not just jump in on something might have lead me to have more health issues. Lesson for me, get to know and understand your crystals before you start to allow them to be ingested into your body.
I am not a mineralogist or a health care provider. I am a person that recommends acting with caution when dealing with products made from these types of crystals or stones.
I always like to act on the safe side and consider crystals to be poisonous to eat drink or otherwise consume unless I know the crystal and the makeup. How the product was created. It is always best to be safe than sorry.
If in doubt look it up. Check out your crystal bible or just jump on Google. As I always tell my lovely friends, clients, and workshop students if it doesn’t feel right walk away. Do not take on that information and check it out yourself.

Rules to follow to keep you and your loved ones safe
Please read over the advice below and follow the steps in how to create your own elixir for your personal use.
Avoid making any of the above items with any crystals/stones containing metal e.g. lead, or copper etc. Use an indirect method that I have written about here.
Almost all of the blue and green stones contain copper and are unsafe for you to use for conventional crystal elixir.
Shiny, metallic stones should be avoided.
Polished stones are less likely to allow elixirs, crystal water or massage oil to leach any potentially hazardous materials.
Rough stones or crystals have more likelihood to leech in potentially hazardous substances or materials into your elixirs or other consumables.
Do not handle crystals or stones that contain arsenic – such as realgar or containing mercury such as cinnabar without your PPE or protective gloves. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling them. These stones are EXTREMELY TOXIC
When handling potentially toxic stones do not eat, drink, or smoke while working with them.
Keep all potentially toxic and harmful crystals and stones away from children and the public. This includes small bite-sized crystals that may be easily swallowed.
